Devry University News DeVry University Announces Plans to Offer Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Programs at New Memphis Location

December 21, 2006 — Memphis, Tennessee — DeVry University, one of North America's leading career-oriented institutions for business, technology and management education, today announced it will open a new location in Memphis this March. DeVry University in Memphis will be located at 6401 Poplar Ave., Suite 600.

DeVry University will offer bachelor's degree programs in business administration and technical management that can be completed in three years. It also will offer seven master's degree programs through its Keller Graduate School of Management.

Memphis, long known as an entrepreneurial city, has remained at the forefront of technological advances. Known as the distribution center of North America, Memphis is also a leader in healthcare and emerging biotechnologies. These qualities, and the workforce demands associated with them, provide an opportunity for DeVry University to help feed the need of this growing city and region.

“With many leading global businesses in Memphis, there is a strong demand for career-oriented education that provides students with skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace,” said David Pauldine, president of DeVry University. “The thriving information technology community serves core industries such as logistics, manufacturing and healthcare. We see a growing need for degree programs that prepare students for careers at the intersection of business and technology”

While the technology industry is strong in Memphis, an education in technology does not limit graduates to careers at tech companies per se, continued Pauldine. “Technology is no longer just a sector of our economy, but an integral part of all 21st century organizations”

According to the Information Technology Association of America, non-IT companies remain the largest employer of IT workers in the United States, employing 10 times more IT professionals than technology companies.

DeVry University is regionally accredited and has been providing high-quality, career-oriented education since 1931. Over the years, more than 250,000 students have graduated from DeVry University locations throughout the country.
